Ironman Western Australia has been elevated to championship status, with Busselton set to host the Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in 2025 and 2026.

The announcement comes as the event celebrates its 20th anniversary this December, with the iconic course featuring a 3.8km swim, 180km ride and 42.2km run along Western Australia's stunning coastline.

"Ironman Western Australia is a bucket list race for our athletes," said Carl Smith, The Ironman Group Regional Director. "By hosting the Asia-Pacific Championship in 2025 and 2026 athletes will be racing for a key regional championship, bringing additional prestige to an event that is already held in such high regard."

Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti highlighted the event's importance to regional tourism, noting the championship status will drive increased visitation to Busselton and boost the local economy.

The 2024 Ironman Western Australia returns to Busselton on Sunday, 1st December.
