Courtney Atkinson has dipped his toes in to the ITU water again and come up with a win. The young guns maybe thought he had retired from the short stuff. But he has shown that there is still some speed left in those legs.
“I always love a race in Asia so while here in Singapore I used the opportunity to jump into my first ITU race since London Olympics… 2 years ago! Brought back good memories with a win.” said Courtney on his Facebook page.
Atkinson was holidaying in Singapore and made the decision to race. “I was in Singapore with my wife to visit my sister and brother who live there. Because I’ve been jumping in some running races in the last few weeks and going well I thought while there I mightt as well race. It has been two years since the London Olympics which was my last ITU race. ITU races are always dynamic which keeps it interesting.”
We wonder if the memories were maybe too good and with Rio only two years away could he be thinking that maybe he has one more Olympics left in him? It will remain to be seen. We have posed the question…
