Beaugrand, yesterday’s Semi-Final Group A winner, utterly dominated the race from the first swim, extending an early lead into the run and never wavering her position. World Champion Katie Zaferes (USA) fought her way to a comfortable second place while Day 1 Semi-Finals winner, Netherlands’ Rachel Klamer, rounded off the podium. The fight to fourth place was a photo-finish between Great Britain’s Vicky Holland USA’s Taylor Spivey, with Holland just edging ahead of the American.

Following the dominance of France’s Beaugrand in the Women’s Final, it was a French connection at the top of the Men’s Final podium, with yesterday’s Group A winner Vincent Luis (FRA) and his compatriot Pierre Le Corre (FRA) storming ahead to lead the field for the entirety of the race.

As with the first race of the day, the unsettled weather conditions meant there was no bike leg in the Enduro, but having improved sufficiently since the women’s race to have four continuous swim-runs, Luis and Le Corre started hard and asserted their dominance.

Despite sticking together for the swims and runs, Luis was always in control; and with the advantage of his Short Chute still in the bag, the defending Champion broke away on the final run lap to beat his fellow Frenchman by five seconds. Crowd favourite Hayden “The Maltese Falcon” Wilde (NZL) crossed the line in third place, with USA’s Ben Kanute outrunning France’s Léo Bergere in a sprint finish for fourth.
