Ellie Salthouse Takes the Win at Ironman 70.3 Tasmania
Ellie Salthouse took the victory at the Ironman 70.3 Tasmania, in spite of a recent illness that threatened her performance.
The Big Picture: Salthouse had a solid race, finishing the grueling course with a time of 4:25:08, which was good enough to secure the win.
What They're Saying: When asked about the course, Salthouse said,
The bike course is a lot harder than on paper, obviously quite hilly and a lot of technical sections so you had to be attentive the whole course but it made it go really quickly.
Context: Salthouse had not done this course before, but she stuck to her plan and backed herself on the run. Despite having company for much of the race, Salthouse was able to maintain a gap and secure the victory.
She now holds the course record for the Tassie race.
