Ironman World Championship – Race Week – Wednesday
Ironman World Championship continues in St. George bringing along lots of activities including many athletes getting out into the fresh water at the Sand Hollow State Reservior for a practise swim.
Race week continues in St. George, Utah, bringing along a plethora of activities and events. After a much anticipated two-year-plus wait, the countdown continues to the world’s most iconic single-day endurance event taking place on Saturday, May 7.
Practice Swim at Sand Hollow State Park
Unlike past IRONMAN World Championship events in Hawai`i where athletes experienced warm saltwater conditions, the cool freshwater lake of Sand Hollow State Park Reservoir will bring something new for the best triathletes in the world to combat. To help athletes get acclimated, the 2021 Intermountain Healthcare IRONMAN World Championship presented by Utah Sports Commission opened up a portion of the swim course to athletes for a practice swim on Wednesday. Athletes took advantage of the time to continue their final preparation for the world championship event by testing out the water as race day nears.
