The start list for the 2017 Island House Invitational Triathlon is packed with Olympians, and multisport world champions setting the stage for two thrilling days of competition between short-course specialists and non-drafting, long course triathletes in the beautiful Bahamas. Competitors will compete in three races over two days for a chance at the race’s attractive $500,000 prize purse.

The women’s field is headlined by two-time ITU and three-time Xterra World Champion, Flora Duffy from Bermuda. Having placed 3rd and 2nd in the previous editions of the Island House race, Duffy has her sights set on the top step of the podium in 2017. She will be joined on the start line by an international group of Rio Olympians including Katie Zaferes, Andrea Hewitt, Ashleigh Gentle, Sarah True and Rachel Klamer.

From non-drafting triathlon, this year’s race includes 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship runner-up, Emma Pallant, taking on the Island House Invitational Triathlon for the first time. She’ll be hoping for race advice from former IRONMAN 70.3 World Champions and British compatriots, Holly Lawrence and Leanda Cave who will both be returning to race in 2017.

ITU specialist, Richard Murray from South Africa, returns as the defending champion on the men’s side, seeking to leverage his race experience from the past two years. Joining him will be two-time ITU World Champion Mario Mola from Spain, Olympic bronze medalist, Henri Schoeman of South Africa and 2017 World Triathlon Series Grand Final winner, Vincent Luis from France.

Leading the charge for the long-course athletes are IRONMAN World Champion and two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, Sebastian Kienle and IRONMAN Regional Champions Ben Hoffman, Tim Don and Josh Amberger.

Highbourne Cay in the Exuma chain of the Bahamas. The racing kicks off with a fast and furious bike/run/swim prologue to warm up the athletes in the morning ahead of a gruelling Enduro triathlon in the afternoon. On day two, the athletes will compete in the event’s traditional final stage, a pursuit format sprint distance triathlon where first across the line for each of the men and the women will be crowned the Island House Invitational Champion.
