Racing is currently underway at Ironman Western Australia, with Max Neumann and Lotte Wilms currently in the lead after completing the swim leg in Geographe Bay. Neumann and Wilms were the first in their respective fields to finish the 3.8km swim. Athletes are now moving on to the 180km bike course.
Neumann, who recently finished fourth at the Ironman World Championship, finished the swim leg just ahead of Steve McKenna, with Sweden's Patrik Nilsson coming in third. In the women's race, Lotte Wilms, a Dutch professional based in Queensland, demonstrated her swimming ability by finishing the opening leg more than two minutes ahead of Radka Kahlefeldt, with Sarah Crowley in third.
