Former professional Ironman Bruce Thomas of Energylink Performance Coaching will be at Port Macquarie this weekend, as he always with business partner and wife Christina Thomas, to support their athlete racing this weekend.
Some of Bruce’s achievments:
- Four times Australian Ironman Triathlon Champion.
- 1993-1994 Australian Triathlete of the Year.
- 1993 Runner-up World Ironman Triathlon Series.
- 1993 finished 7th Ironman Triathlon World Championships, Hawaii.
He had some words of wisdom for people racing this weekend “A tip for Ironman competitors: We can all learn from Kona qualifier, Vince Lauwerier’s race in Melbourne – early in the bike leg Vince had many athletes passing him and many that did not look like they should be! He was smart enough to control his emotions and stick to the race plan. Sure enough he ticked those competitors off in the last part of the bike and finished with a strong run leg. Don’t compromise your Ironman race by a moment of weakness.” Coach Bruce Thomas.
The next piece of advice is from Darryl of Shotz Global Nutrition. It may be a bit late in the piece to be thinking about this but why not have a last minute think about it. ‘General guide for an Ironman triathlon nutrition strategy’ goes in to the many aspects of ironman race nutrition. Darryl looks after a huge list of professional and age group triathletes.
