Under Armour, maker of the MyFitnessPal app is investigating a late February data security breach that affected 150 million users of the app and website. MyFitnessPal is a free calorie counter app as well as a diet and fitness journal. Under Armour discovered the breach on Sunday, 25th March.
The breached data “included usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords — the majority of the hashing function called bcrypt used to secure passwords,” Under Armour stated in a press release. “Under Armour is working with leading data security firms to assist in its investigation, and also coordinating with law enforcement authorities.”
No credit card data was affected.
